Pio Giralico
MSW, RSW. Addictions & Mental Health Counsellor
He has a Masters degree in Social Work and a Specialized Honours degree in Public Policy and Administration. Over the past 20 years, his passion has been to offer services to people and agencies on topics related to mental health, addictions, trauma, burnout, and empathic strain (compassion fatigue).
He has provided years of counselling to individuals and groups, and provided numerous consultations and workshops to agencies, businesses, and the community sector at- large. His original area of expertise, and present-day passion, is in the field of addictions and substance abuse. He has helped countless people reclaim their lives, who have struggled with this burden. He works from a Harm Reduction perspective, which also includes abstinence, along the recovery continuum. He is a compassionate therapist who creates great rapport with his clients, as he practices from a client- centered approach to service.
Pio is also an engaging public speaker as he infuses a little bit of humour in his presentations, which at times can deal with emotional and sensitive subject matters. He has also been an instructor at a community College in Toronto, teaching Concurrent Disorders courses. For the past 10 years, he has also been the Manager of a Housing First Intensive Case Management program, which is a multidisciplinary team working with the chronically homeless in Toronto.
On top of his passion for the work that he does, Pio is an avid sports fan. His favourite role in life is in being a husband, and father to his two young children.
